MISSION STATEMENT

See other ways we support this mission and other like-minded organizations through MCES.

The mission of Davolt Community Advocacy, DCA, is to support and enable employees to fully contribute and reach their full potential in the workplace. DCA meets people where they are to assist in their continued growth, allowing them to build better lives for themselves, their families, and the community as a whole. DCA works to challenge the stereotypes and stigma associated with people with disabilities and to expand disability cultural competency throughout the company. We do this by focusing on education, engagement, accessibility, talent enhancement, and community involvement in order to drive engagement and performance.

VISION STATEMENT

DCA is committed to the concept of meeting people where they are and this stems from genuine care, intentionality, and mutual relationship. It is about going to the places people love, trust, and frequent, rather than expecting them to come to an institution or organization. It is also about recognizing that reducing disparities is an “all hands-on deck” effort, and that no one organization can do it on its own.

DCA utilizes the process by which people come together to identify common problems or goals, mobilize resources, and, in other ways, develop and implement strategies for reaching the objectives they want to accomplish.

1.    Providing a greater ability to bring about the changes needed for our underserved communities. The collective voice of many people working together on a problem is much more powerful than a single voice.

2.    Empowerment. Involving people (especially those who haven't traditionally had much power) in improving the conditions which shape their lives, so they are able to increase their personal sense of worth and capabilities, helping them to live a more fulfilling life.

3.    Increased self-sufficiency among community members. Organizing people to bring about change helps maintain a high level of ownership by people for their own destinies.

4.    Increased social support. By bringing together diverse groups of people who are working for the same cause, people get the chance to talk and learn with others they may not have met otherwise. Both professionally and socially, community organization offers ample opportunity for growth and enjoyment among those who come together.

5.    Greater equity in society.  When people gain control over the forces that shape their lives, it changes the balance of power in the community, spreading it more broadly and distributing it more equally.  That, in turn, changes for the better the circumstances of those with the least power, making for a more just society.
